This semi-transparent natural lacquered high waisted formal piece retains its 'Ming' style. The basic form reveals a table so pure in form and proportion that it represents the benchmark for Classical Chinese Furniture. It is richly decorated with open-work carvings; the central panel contains fisherman's net weave while other two panels contain scrolling grass and lotus blossom. It is rare to find alter tables over 90cm and this one is 100cm. The inclusion of horse hoof feet produces an early classic style.
